Georgia Senator files 'Personhood Amendment'

According to the U.S. Constitution, the States do have Sovereignty over the Federal Government.  So, the states can make their own rules.  Case in point that has garnered National and world attention is the Arizona bill that makes it a crime to be in that state unlawfully.  That case will eventually go to the Supreme Court, and yes, the State of Arizona is now suing the Federal Government.  Why is this important?

Because, today, Senator Barry Loudermilk, (R-52) a veteran pro-life leader, announced at a Press Conference that he is filing the Personhood Amendment, SR 153, in the Georgia Senate. This Resolution is titled Paramount Right to Life.  The Resolution is written to protect the unborn without regard to age, race, sex, health, function or condition of dependency, states that the "right to life is vested in each human being from their earliest biological beginning until natural death" and that right should be protected by law.

Georgia Right to Life said that they "commend Senator Loudermilk for his efforts with the Personhood Amendment and providing Constitutional protection to the unborn."

In 1973, when Roe v Wade was decided by a misguided Supreme Court that actually made murder legal in the U.S., ultrasonography and DNA testing were yet to be invented.  With the invention of these tools, research clearly shows that that a fully human and unique individual exists at the moment of conception. Dr. Don Wildmon, President of the American Family Association, says that Georgia has "become an example to the rest of the nation.  How?  Simply by demonstrating that a state can protect the sanctity of life without compromise and without exceptions." Dr. Wildmon further encouraged Georgians to "stand strong in this conviction, because innocent human life hangs in the balance."

Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council, remarked that "The Georgia Personhood Amendment is a reflection of a growing pro-life sentiment across the country." Key evidence does indeed indicate a burgeoning support of the Personhood issue right here in Georgia. In July 2010, 75% of Georgians from 46 counties statewide said a resounding "YES" to the Personhood concept, including Atlanta's historically liberal Fulton County with 62%. In fact, a recent Gallup pole found that Americans are more pro -life than pro-choice for the first time. This trend reverses a 10 percentage point deficit as recently as 2006 and a 23 point gap just 15 years ago.

Great for Senator Loudermilk. I hope that there will be a few other men that will stand on principles. I don't understand how so many say they're christian conservatives but are scared to defend human life!!!
