Focus on the Family announced on October 30, 2009, that Dr. James Dobson (who founded the non-profit organization in 1977) will leave the ministry as its primary radio voice at the end of February.This is the "third chapter in a transition that began in 2003 [when Dobson stepped down as ministry president]," said Jim Daly, Focus on the Family's ministry president and CEO. He added that it was a mutual decision between Dr. Dobson and the ministry's board of directors, which Dr. Dobson left in February of this year.
"Focus on the Family has never been about one man," Daly said. "That's why Dr. Dobson has always refused to have his name put on any building here. It's about doing the Lord's work in helping families."
Focus on the Family nurtures and defends the God-ordained institution of the family and promotes biblical truths worldwide. Its syndicated radio programs are heard in more160 countries.

Thank goodness...
Perhaps the whole "Focus on Family" thing can be put to rest right along with Dobson. Both are a tired out (like, dated back to the Bronze age.)

Dr. Dobson will be sorely missed, but he certainly has earned his retirement. I am sure "Focus" will go on for decades to come. It fills a real need.
Dr. Dobson isn't retiring so don't fear brothers and sisters...its just the natural course of handing the reigns over to a younger generation....Dr. Dobson said that we could be sure to hear from him in books and video and television! What a great man, leader, christian! It's time for us to carry the torch for a while!!!!! Thank you Dr. Dobson!!!
