Persian King Cambiz II, son of Cyrus the Great had an army of 50,000 who disappeared 2,500 years ago.
The archeological mystery may just have been solved, no longer rendering it a mystery!
Herodotus who lived from 484 to 425 B.C. wrote "A wind arose from the south, strong and deadly, bringing with it vast columns of whirling sand, which entirely covered up the troops and caused them wholly to disappear." His assumption was for years, dismissed as a tall tale. However, according to the two Italian Scientists who made the discovery, Herodotus may have been right after all.
The 50,000 soldiers' believed to have been buried in 525 B.C. left behind their remains as well as bronze weapons, silver jewelry and other artifacts.
The famous Castiglioni brothers were the scientists who made the discovery.
