Mr. Doug Hoffman, Conservative Party candidate in the special election in New York's 23rd District, has withdrawn his earlier concession of the election to his Democratic Party opponent, Bill Owens. He made this declaration on Glenn Beck's radio program
The Hill, the newspaper of Congress, now quotes the Clerk of the House of Representatives as saying that if Hoffman turns out to have won election, Bill Owens would have to relinquish his seat.
The deadline for the return of absentee ballots passed yesterday, and now the absentee-ballot count will begin. The Hill estimates that Mr. Hoffman would need to have sixty-five percent of the absentee votes in order to win. Glenn Beck, speaking this morning on Fox and Friends, admitted that this might not happen, and Mr. Hoffman himself admitted to Mr. Beck that his campaign was a "long shot." Still, Hoffman recognizes that he has a better chance than he thought he had on the morning after the election.

I hope he pulls it off. I'm a registered Democtrat, but I'm becoming more and more alarmed by the direction my party is taking the country. They're like a bunch of schoolyard bully-boys strong-arming their agendas.
@Nancy: Have you searched out your local Tea Party organization? If they're anything like the one I know, they will *not* turn you away, be you Democrat or Republican or independent. (They aren't just non-partisan; they're anti-partisan.)
Doug Hoffman's greatest virtue is that he is not the hand-picked candidate of the local political "machine." Machine politics has been the undoing of individual liberty and of republican (note the lowercase "r") government since the very founding of Thomas Jefferson's original "something" that he called the "Republican Party."
