Hollywood may be experiencing a little horse trading, based upon rumors heard around the paddock on January 28th.
Apparently, actor Robert Downey, Jr., has trotted away from the upcoming motion picture, Cowboys & Aliens. DreamWorks Pictures producers are reportedly trying to rein in 42-year-old British actor Daniel Craig for the riding and roping lead in the science fiction Western film.
The Cowboys & Aliens film, with a projected cinematic release in June 2011, is based on the 2006 graphic novel series by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg (published by Platinum Studios Comics of Harper Collins).
Cowboys & Aliens, set in the Wild West of the 1800’s, portrays a conflict (on horseback) between space alien invaders and cowboys and Apaches.
The film will be directed by Jon Favreau (Elf and Iron Man).

Daniel Craig is perhaps best known for his role as James Bond, British secret agent #007, in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. Daniel Craig also appeared in Elizabeth, The Golden Compass, Munich, Road to Perdition and other films.
Playing an American cowboy may be a stretch.
But can Daniel Craig ride a horse?
Hollywood insiders (such as writers at Cinematical, The Insider and Variety) seem to think actor Daniel Craig can pony up for the part as a galloping gunslinger.
After all, the British actor quit smoking and enlisted a personal fitness trainer’s assistance to buff up for the Bond movies. Perhaps an equestrian trainer can whip him into shape for the lead role in Cowboys & Aliens, if he signs on. (Any volunteers?)

Oh yea, I could teach him how to horse ride,:-)
I have that graphic novel. A screen adaptation should be interesting.
I would love to teach Daniel horseback riding. Can't wait for the movie, looks like fun.
