Pinot Days: A wine lovers extravaganza

The lure of Pinot Noir is coming to Santa Monica this weekend at the Third Annual Pinot Days.  Wine enthusiasts don’t have to drive to Napa, the central coast or for that matter fly abroad to taste the complexities and different styles of Pinot Noir.  Instead you can enjoy over 300 Pinot Noirs from 80 wineries at the Grand Festival Tasting, Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 1 – 5 pm at Barker Hanger at the Santa Monica Airport.

Explore the Pinot Noirs from the Russian River Valley, Willamette Valley, Burgundy, Santa Lucia Highlands, Santa Rita Hills, Santa Maria Valley, New Zealand, and Santa Cruz Mountains to name a few regions.  For a list of Wineries participating click here.

Pinot Days is sponsored by Bay Area Wine Project, a 501 c3 non-profit that holds tasting events annually in San Francisco, Santa Monica, Dallas and Chicago.  The mission is not only to share Pinot Noir with wine lovers across the country but also to donate proceeds from these events to charities that help humanitarian causes around the world including Africa, Albania and Mexico.

This event brings to light Pinot Noir as the up and coming wine especially from those wineries in the Central Coast of California.

Pinot Days is comprised of several events in addition to the Grand Festival.  Beginning Thursday January 26th, 2012 from 6 – 9 pm there is the Santa Rita Palooza at the West Restaurant in the Hotel Angeleno in Brentwood.  Enjoy the spectacular view from the top floor restaurant where Santa Rita Hills’ winemakers will pour their Pinots, which will be paired with the fantastic appetizers offered by the West’s Chef Matthew Woolf.  This is a great opportunity to not only taste the Pinots of the Santa Rita Hills AVA but to discover the fabulous food at the West Restaurant, the Hotel Angeleno’s best-kept secret.

On Friday, January 27th from 8:15 -10 pm, there is Pinots and Grilled Cheese at Wine House in West Los Angeles. Ten producers will pour their Pinots and at the same time you can enjoy Chef Todd Barrie’s gourmet versions of the classic American food, grilled cheese.  To reserve a spot at this event call 310.479-3731 Ext 0.
