16 local Massachusetts schools get Renewable Energy Stimulus funds

16 local Massachusetts schools get Renewable Energy Stimulus funds.  Last week the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust announced funding of $3 million for high performance Green Technology programs. 9 schools are installing solar panels and 6 schools are funded for Green design assistance.

The 9 schools installing solar panels are Beverly High School, Bridgewater Raynham Regional High School, Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, Manchester - Essex Regional Middle / High School, New Bedford Lincoln Elementary School, Newton North High School, Quincy High School, Dr. Albert F. Argenziano School in Sommerville and Worcester North High School. The funding ranges from $150,00 to $300,00 per school.

The 6 schools awarded funding for Green school design assistance are Billerica Parker School, Brookline Runkle Elementary / Middle School, Carver Elementary School, Dedham Avery Elementary School, Hampden - Wilbraham Minnechaug Regional High School and Hanover High School. The funding ranges from $40,000 to $75,00 per school. Also the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown was given funding for both solar panels and Green facilities design assistance.

Since 2002 the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust has provided more than 80 schools with funding for Renewable Energy Projects and Green Technology facilities assistance. (AP photo)
