As things heat up at the climate change conference in Copenhagen, Canada has already received an award – but not one to brag about. Canada received a 3rd place award for Environment Minister Jim Prentice comments: “Canada will not be swayed by Copenhagen hype.”

First place “fossil award” went to all industrialized countries – “for an overwhelming lack of ambition” in resolving climate change issues.

The Fossil of the Day awards will be handed out daily during the conference by the votes of the Climate Action Network – a coalition of over 450 worldwide non-governmental organizations dedicated to limiting climate change to sustainable levels. The awards feature a "satirical game show style comical ceremony" but with a very serious message that highlight dishourable countries for "low ambition on carbon cuts."

The Canadian Press also reported today that five BC citizens who say the federal government is not taking enough action on climate change staged a peaceful sit-in protest at the constituency office of North Vancouver Conservative MP Andrew Saxton on Friday. The sit-in was part of a series of nationwide protests, to draw attention to the Copenhagen UN climate change talks. Protests are being organized worldwide to coincide with the ongoing Copenhagen conference.

Canada also received embarrassing international attention when 19 Greenpeace activists occupied roofs on the Parliament Buildings – today December 7 - “to highlight the failure of Prime Minister Harper and Opposition Leader Ignatieff to help end the growing loss of human lives from the ever-worsening climate crisis.”

The Greenpeace activists hung two banners on the West Block of Parliament reading “Harper/Ignatieff: Climate Inaction Costs Lives” and “Harper/Ignatieff: L’inaction climatique coûte des vies.” Activists occupying roofs also placed banners at the East Block and across entrances calling for an end to tar sands development.

Critics and doubters of climate change evidence continue to spread messages that it is either the economy or the environment - along with diverting attention to a recent sideshow of illegally leaked emails.

Background information on the conference is available at this Climate Change article.

Vancouver put together its climate change greenest city plan earlier in 2009. The 2010 Olympic Games have also been challenged to create a green environmental face.

Has anyone not heard about Climategate!!!!!! Why do we still believe these crooks? We act like none of those e-mails were leaked. Next step..... Carbon taxes for all citizens!!! More money for the pockets of the Politicians and Bankers behind this whole scandel! We should aways be concerned aboout our enviroment, but we should also be aware of what costs are put before us. These Goverments, Companies, and organizations have put this off for so long, they are taking the cost out of our pockets. Global warming does not exsist. These are the same tyrannies over and over.
    Free your minds!!!!

" [I]llegally leaked emails"!!! So what if they were "illegally" leaked? If they stop the lemmings at Copenhagen from pushing us into catastrophic economic decline due to socialist "global warming" policies, then the legality of their leaking is unimportant.

When the New York Times published "illegally leaked" information, in December 2005, about an ultrasecret terrorist surveillance program of the National Security Agency and provided details of how it operated, I didn't hear you lefties screaming about the illegalities. Instead, you applauded their actions, even though it amounted to treason and endangered the lives of millions of North Americans.

You will not distract the public with your silly claims of illegality. The information is out for everyone to see - "global warming" is a hoax perpetrated by extremely unscrupuous ideologues.

The jig is up, socialists. The emperor has no clothes!

I've never been so proud to be a Canadian. I hope we win the award every day of the conference. Actually, I'd be prouder still if Canada had simply boycotted the whole charade, like we boycotted the anti-Jewish hate-fest known as Durban II.

The UN has outlived its usefulness. Boycott the UN.

Thank God the illegally leaked emails were made public. Have read any of them, Bev. Here are a few direct quotes of the hundreds that demonstrate that the leading proponents of the "global warming" fraud were just making it up. "Settled science" my @ss!

    Read it and weep:

"plot past 1960 because these will be artificially adjusted to look closer to the real temperatures."

"Specify period over which to compute the regressions (stop in 1960 to avoid the decline"

"am I the first person to attempt to get the CRU databases in working order?!!"

"Here, the expected 1990-2003 period is MISSING - so the correlations aren't so hot! Yet the WMO codes and station names /locations are identical (or close). What the hell is
supposed to happen here? Oh yeah - there is no 'supposed', I can make it up. So I have :-)"
