Workers are still sifting through the ashes of the ground explosion in San Bruno (San Mateo County) Thursday. At last report 6 are dead with recovery activity ongoing. An unknown number of pets and wildlife have been killed or injured.
In response:
The Red Cross has set up shelters and is seeking donations to aid residents. Cash is preferred. In-kind donations (blankets etc.) are discouraged.
There is sheltering available for animals in the wake of the smoldering disaster.
The Peninsula Humane Society seeks donations for the animals and under ordinary circumstances animal shelters will accept in-kind donations (blankets etc.). The phone number is 650/348-2575.
