Looking for a nice break from the holiday rush, or maybe a sustainable, locally-made gift for a friend? Treat yourself while gift shopping by taking a breather at Crossing Vineyard, one of Philly’s “best kept secrets” in nearby Washington Crossing.
Have a taste of one of the vineyard’s sustainably-grown reds or whites, take a tour of the winery, and choose from a variety of gift baskets.
Crossing incorporates green practices in production such as composting, recycling, and use of organic pesticides. It has recently dedicated a “green” storage building on its grounds.
Its harvest includes ten red and seven whites, and specialty wines include blanc de blancs, wild berry, blush, apple, nouveau, and brut rose.
Holiday music events include Jazz Dec. 4, a brazz ensemble Dec. 11, and Latin Christmas tunes Dec. 18. There are wine tastings Dec. 13 and Jan. 17. Events and tastings are open to the public, and the winery is open daily and Sunday from noon to 6:00 p.m.
