The Kailua ahupua`a (a Hawaiian land division) celebrated RAMSAR day with information provided by local environmental and cultural non-profits, lectures about the natural resources of Kailua and tours of Kawainui Marsh.

William Sager is a forester/conservationist who worked with the State Division of Forestry and Wildlife for 20 years and has been a natural resource consultant for over 20 years. He is a member of the Kaneohe Neighborhood Board, the Kaneohe Bay Regional Council and several local conservation organizations.
