ENTERTAINMENT NEWS REVIEW: Dial Idol is predicting that Lee DeWyze won American Idol title

Dial Idol is a website that tracks voting trends for American Idol (as well as Dancing With the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance) and its contestants. It's a computer program for Microsoft Windows that allows users to vote for their favorite contestants through their PCs. The program reports the information back to the website which keeps track of the percentage of calls that result in a busy signal. The assumption is that more callers are voting for the contestants that get the most busy signals who in turn get the most votes.
Users of the program can vote two ways: keeping a favorite "safe" or keeping an unfavorite "unsafe." Listen, I didn't invent it, I'm just reporting the information.
The things is, Dial Idol is usually correct. Since they implemented this program in Season 4, they have been able to predict most of the performers who are voted off during the course of the six seasons it's been in operation. and in every season since they started, they have correctly predicted the final winner. Except for last year, when it was too close to call, and they didn't predict any winner.
This year, two hours into the voting, they have already predicted Lee DeWyze, over Crytsal Bowersox, as the winner of Season 9. We predicted this ourselves when we wrote about the judges pimping for Lee. I'm not sure what they were doing, probably trying to lessen expectations about Crystal so she wouldn't go by the way of Adam Lambert, moving from frontrunner to second place. The judges, however, came to her defense a little late, as they made it clear on Tuesday that Crystal won the night, and should win the whole shebang. But Lee will follow in a long line of middle-of-the-road male singers, who the American audience (who votes in these types of things) favors.
I'm not a scientist, but I'd guess that if all of Crystal's fans got alarmed enough at this news, they might be able to turn this baby around. Mamasox Nation, where are you? Get on the phone!

Too many anomolies in the Dial Idol charts tonight. Votes tallied = Crystal. Busy signal = Lee. 1:1 Busy for Lee in one state, with 500:1 Busy for crystal in the same state, and they gave the state to Lee. Should be interesting Wednesday night. VFTW is pushing FugLee pretty hard too. All the 13-14 yr old un-pimped girlies have no one to vote for but Lee. It's now past their beddy-bye times, so vote for MAMMASOX!

I think Lee Dewyze will win it. Crystal was the frontrunner for the whole season but America loves an underdog so I think Lee is gonna take it. Can't wait to find out.

Crystal sang 2 of 3 songs well 2nite but overall Lee has been the consistent performer! He will sell records, she will not. Go Lee!!! (And btw....what a horrible #3 song they gave him! Dial idol only measures calls of people using dial idol software on thier PC's. Is doesn't track cell phones, land lines or texting. Crystal attracted a lot of new people to Idol who never watched it before and don't use dial idol software. So it's still up for grabs!
What the heck are you people using for ears? Do you like him because he's cute? I am in the music business and believe me, he is mediocre at best. Crystal, on the other hand, has style, musicianship, a great voice, and has nailed most everything she's sung. But I learned a long time ago that Idol is more of a popularity contest than a talent contest. It's really too bad for Crystal that it looks like that will be the case. But she will be fine, and he will just be another so-so voice that you will never hear on the radio.

I like them both this year. I think Lee should win. He'd have a better chance of making it big I think if he wins. Chrystal is just as good if not better, but she is also a stronger personality and "go getter". She will have no problem making it out there without Idol. I also thought Chrystals last song showed her talent, but what an awful sound for a first single. I want something I can sing along with on the radio. It was to gospel like for me--for a coming out song!!

Now I'm going to contradict everything I stated in last comment. Although I'd like to see Lee win. I do think we have had too many "Lee a likes" the past few years. David Cook is a lot like lee or vice versa. Chris Allen (terrible singer-IMO) has that look also. It would be nice to switch it up a little.

I love Lee and he's my fave but i'd rather Crystal win because the single they gave Lee "Beautiful Day" does not fit his style at all. He is sort of like a soft rock artist like Daughtry or King's of Leon, that's what they should of let him put out, not techno sounding crap like Beautiful Day. I am very disappointed with their single choice for Lee, they should of respected the kind of artist he is and gave him a single that fit that. At least Crystal's single seemed to fit her style and her voice.

I will be very disappointed if Lee wins, his performances are inconsistent and he's BLAND, where's the personality?! I'm not sure why people think Crystal won't sell albums - she's not a bubblegum pop star, so what? Hasn't anyone heard of Sheryl Crow or Melissa Etheridge? Crystal has got soul, isn't cookie cutter and is a true musician - Bowersox all the way! Besides, even if Lee wins, she'll still get signed.

A career is one thing, a career in music is something different entirely. Working 40 hours a week is a lot easier to manage with a baby than touring for months on end and spending days in a studio.

Who cares this is the worse Idol session. They all will make atleast a 6 figure paycheck just on the Idol Tour alone not including record sells. People pay how much for a ticket on this tour, omg.

I could care less if she wins or not because honestly..shes better off not winning, so she wont be held down by any idol contracts..and anybody saying she cant sing or is trash...go find some of her originals...theres about 10 of them on the web and they are way better then any cover songs youve heard her sing on idol...this girl is gonna blow up
And this article isn't biased, please. Crystal has been pimped all season except for the last few weeks because the judges wanted to pimp another contestant for an "exciting" and "unpredictable" finale. And they pimped Crystal a TON last night - which she didn't deserve because she shouted through all of her songs. She is not contemporary at all, indie records are her style. What radio station is going to play Up To The Mountain?
The Best 2 singers competed last night. Why are all you hating? Congrats to Lee and crystal 2 people, great singers they both deserve it. American Idol as well as America itself is all about giving all walks of life a chance at there dreams. I know only one will win but stop hating what if you were given a chance and read all this crap about you? To call some one a slut common!!!!
I certainly hope it is Lee and that Dial Idol is right. I just want to throw Crystal into a bathtub and and scrub her with Lysol, she just looks nasty. Dreadlocks, missing and yellow teeth are just not my idea of an American Idol. Whatever happened to makeovers this year? Last night they fell over Crystal who was off key and shouted instead of singing. Remember they dissed Siobhan for doing that, but there again, I still haven't got over Adam losing last year

Lee dewyze, I think his voice is amazing. He should win this. Although crystal has been good throughout, Lee has progressed the most. And I would much rather hear Lee's type of music than crystal's
