The Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival promised the Seattle community a brush with celebrity in 2009 and they delivered. Sharon Gless, star of Cagney & Lacey, Queer as Folk and Burn Notice, graced the Emerald City for the feature film premiere of Hannah Free.
Produced by Ripe Fruit Films, LLC with direction by Wendy Jo Carlton, Hannah Free effortlessly shares the quintessential love story of two women whose lifelong paths cross and bend until broken, finally, by death. It is within the tale of the two once-childhood girls that the audience begins to unravel a generation of homophobia, lust, loss, patience and acceptance. Hannah and Rachel's love for one another is one that world war and familial obligations cannot extinguish and the audience is with them for the ride.
Hannah Free highlighted the closing night celebration for the Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, hosted by Three Dollar Bill Cinema. Guests lined up around the block at Cinerama for a taste of Sharon Gless and Hannah Free. There was a Q&A session following the film screening where Sharon, Wendy Jo, Jason Plourde and Rachael Brister switched the microphone back and forth to discuss the film with the audience. The after-party took place at Pan Pacific Hotel. City Catering and Cupcake Royale supplied the food and beverage, but Sharon and her team provided the entertainment by signing autographs, giving away free stuff from the film and connecting with the fans.
