Pink Floyd members have graced viewing audiences with a wonderful tutorial on the process of recording a song. Featuring their mega-hit, "Money," the band members and engineers describe the arrangement of the music, effects used in getting the sounds and demonstrate how the song was mixed in a six-minute, five-second video now available on YouTube. The video clip is part of a larger project, addtional segments of which are also available for viewing on the popular video application.
Whether you're an artist who is just learning the process of recording, or an experienced musician, producer or engineer, I think you'll find this video informative and entertaining. While the song was recorded in the days when analog tape recording was the only option available, their inventiveness and the methods they used have carried over into the creation of digital effects available now in the software currently used by most studios.
Hats off to Pink Floyd for taking the time to give us all a lesson in the process of making a hit song.
