She’s back, so you better watch yours. That’s right, Amanda Woodward (Heather Locklear) returns as the bitch we love to hate, right in time for the November sweeps. The last time we saw her on the original “Melrose’s Place” she was faking her own death with her husband Dr. Peter Burns and escaped to a tropical island to live a happy life.
Things are about to heat up at 4616 Melrose Place.
CW is bringing Locklear back in an attempt to pick up lackluster ratings. I have no idea why this is failing as it has a saucy storyline, great acting, and fresh cast members. It ignites off fresh sexiness and drama every episode. I think the main problem with this show is that it may be a little too “adultish” for the CW as the CW focuses more on teenage based shows. Hopefully, Amanda’s return will allow to this show to live out the rest of the season, perhaps, even a second season.
Locklear’s character Amanda is back as owner of the WPK publicity office that Ella (the brilliant and beautiful Katie Cassidy) is junior publicist at and works for major hottie boss, Caleb (Victor Webster). There is sure to be plenty of cat fights between Amanda and Ella as they both share similar personalities.Word has it that Amanda instantly fires half of the WPK staff, including Caleb. Ella has been attempting to be the new Amanda, however, it hasn’t quite got their yet. Ella does not seem vicious enough to be titled the new Amanda alas why CW had to bring back Locklear. Also, the CW will bring in Billy Campbell to play Amanda's love interest in three episodes.
It also has been announced that both Ashlee Simpson- Wentz (Violet) and hunky Colin Egglesfied (Auggie) will be leaving the show in January, as planned.
Executive producer Todd Slavkin told Entertainment Weekly during an interview:
"We always knew that this murder mystery would end in episode 12. And we always knew that [Ashlee's] character of Violet would be instrumental in that as a suspect, and [Colin's character of] Augie as well. And once that murder mystery was solved, she would go on her way. That was the original plan going into the development of the show."
Hmmm… I wonder what the new plot twist will be once the murder mystery ends. Rumor has it the show will be more fun, romantic and sexier than it has been and the characters will pretty much move on.
Simpson- Wentz also comments:
"Having the chance to play Violet on 'Melrose Place' has been a thrill. Although I always knew her story would come to a final, insanely unpredictable end, playing a creepy, unstable character was something I always wanted to do, so I jumped at the chance. Thanks to the CW and the entire cast and crew of 'Melrose Place' for allowing me this opportunity!"
Tune in to the CW to see Locklear’s vicious return as Amanda. Don’t miss it tonight at 9 p.m. EST on the CW.
