Fans around the world are waiting for the final details of Michael Jackson's funeral. Speculations had been made by many that a public memorial would be held at Jackson’s former home “ Neverland Ranch”. But today a Jackson family spokesman says a public memorial for Michael Jackson is in the works, but it won't be held at the Pop Icon’s Neverland Ranch. The Jackson family has remained inside the family compound since last week, and father Joe Jackson said there will be no final arrangements made until the results of the second autopsy are completed.

A PR firm Sunshine,Sachs, and Associates has recently been hired by the Jackson's to handle the media requests regarding the funeral arrangements. Publicist Ken Sunshine released a statement today saying that he's representing the Jackson estate and that “no burial would take place at Neverland”.

Neverland is presently owned by a equity firm “Colony Capital”. This week the forms representative consulted with Santa Barbara County officials about burying Jackson at the ranch. It has been reported they were told that burying Michael at Never land would require overcoming a huge sea of governmental red tape.

Reports say that the Jackson's family wants Michael to be buried at their estate in Los Olivos in Santa Barbara County. Sources say that California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has offered his help maneuvering through possible bureaucratic obstacles.

A Santa Barbara County county lawyer Michael Ghizzoni, said. “Based on our contacts with the state, we think it would be a process of months, not weeks.”
Die hard fans are still hoping for a Neverland burial. “ That was Michael's favorite place in the world, and where he would want rest forever said fan Charity Diaz.

Workers have been seen sprucing the place, which had been virtually abandoned. They were laying fresh sod,and doing regular lawn maintenance. Fountains which had long ago been shut down, are now flowing again, and beautiful fresh flowers are surrounding the train station.

Fans and media members continue to gather in the areas nearby the Neverland Ranch from all over the world, in anticipation that the memorial plans may change. But as of now... Neverland is closed.

What do you think is a fitting tribute to the King of Pop?

Staples Center it is. The music lives forever and that’s why I say Sony, iTunes, Amazon, et al – should provide that a percentage of their gross MJ profits should go to feed/help children (UNICEF?) because the fans are buying – in the case of Record companies/Distributors make it permanent like J.M. Barrie did in 1929 when he specified copyright of the Peter Pan works should go to the UK’s leading children’s hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital. And no matter what anyone’s feelings for Michael, his legacy would still be helping children. In fact it becomes everyone’s legacy. It’s about the good this can do for a long time, just like Peter Pan does. So whenever the children need – we’ll be there. It’s as simple as ABC :) Make it happen so we can “make that change”.
