Wax on, wax off.
The new butt kickin' "grasshopper" has been cast for the "Karate Kid" remake set to hit theaters next summer.
Will Smith's youngest son, Jaden Smith, will star opposite Jackie Chan in a remake of the Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita 1984 martial arts classic
"I trained every day for four months with Master Wu [the film's fight coordinator]," 11 year-old Jaden told People magazine.
The movie, much of which was shot on location in China, closely models the original, but with a few contemporary twists.
According to IMDB: "Jaden Smith's character moves to Beijing with his mother, where he encounters a bully situation similar to Macchio's in his new locale. Smith's character will be named Dre instead of Daniel, and take lessons from Chinese martial arts master Mr. Han, played by Jackie Chan."
"Jaden had a lot of respect for me as his teacher, even off the set," adds Jackie Chan, no stranger to martial arts flicks himself. "He is professional as many adult actors who have been in the business for years."
The Karate Kid will kick its way into theaters beginning June 11, 2010.
