Shania Twain confirmed as guest judge on American Idol

People Magazine is confirming that the country superstar will "take a seat next to Simon Cowell as a guest judge at upcoming American Idol auditions."

Twain's opportunity to fill Paula Abdul’s empty seat on the judges panel will likely take place in Chicago later this month.

Would Shania Twain be a good permanent fit for American Idol?

For now, even this one appearance will be a welcome cameo by Twain for her fans - most of whom have been eager to see the recording superstar since she seemingly disappeared from the face of the entertainment world several years ago.

Perhaps American Idol will put Twain back in the spotlight that has so desperately missed her.
