'Precious' star Gabourey Sidibe nominated for SAG Award; See the full list of nominees below

Precious star Gabourey Sidibe nominated for SAG Award

Nominees for the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced this morning in a televised press conference live from the Pacific Design Center's Silver Screen Theatre in West Hollywood. SAG President Ken Howard was on hand to welcome members of the press and to introduce film actress Michelle Monaghan ("Trucker") and NCIS Los Angeles star Chris O'Donnell who announced the nominees.

The SAG Awards are the only film and television industry awards whose nominees are selected by actors themselves, and quite often are a good indication of who will be nominated come Oscar and Emmy time. As usual, there were plenty of surprises and a few sighs of relief when the nominees were announced.

On the TV front, despite cancellation, Christina Applegate received a nomination for her role in the now-defunct ABC comedy, Samantha Who?. Nominations for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in both drama and comedy included two of my personal guilty pleasures with True Blood  being nominated for drama and Glee receiving a nod for comedy. Having just wrapped the final season of Monk, it's nice to see Tony Shalhoub among the nominees for lead actor in a comedy, although Alec Baldwin of 30 Rock will probably take that one.  Another personal favorite, Kyra Sedgwick of The Closer received a nomination as the the show itself.

Sedgwick's hubby, Kevin Bacon is among the nominees for his role in the television movie Taking Chance.  Just like this year's Emmy nominations, both Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore are up for Lead Actress for their mother-daughter roles in the HBO movie, Grey Gardens.

When the nominees for movies were announced, cheers could be heard when first-time film actress Gabourey Sidibe, who stars in the current hit Precious was named among the actresses competing for Lead Actress. Her antagonistic co-star, Monique also received a nomination in the Supporting Actress category. Inglourious Basterds fared far better at the nominations that it did at the box office, receiving a total of three nominations. Even though it hasn't hit theatres yet, Nine scored a nod for Penelope Cruz.

Included below is a full list of nominees for film and television. The SAG Awards will air Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 8/7c on both TNT and TBS.
