Beginning at 10 am on Friday, September 3, Nashville-based construction businesses LP Building Products and HARDAWAY Construction Corp. are inviting area residents and potential volunteers to participate in a kick off Pep Rally at the Curb Event Center on the Belmont University campus. The purpose of the Pep Rally is to officially launch The Nashville Build. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Senior Producer Milan Vasic will be on hand for the celebration.
While locations of the two Nashville builds hasn't been released, rumor has it the show plans to help two local families who lost everything after the recent Nashville floods.
“I grew up in Nashville and to see what this city has faced in the last few months and to still have our volunteer spirit and compassion front and center, I couldn’t be more proud to say that I live and love this town. This Pep Rally will be a celebration of both our volunteer spirit and the start of doing something nice for our neighbors right here in Middle Tennessee,” said Stan Hardaway, President of HARDAWAY Construction Corp. "“We are thrilled with the response from both area companies and individuals that are excited that the ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’ crew is returning to Nashville,” he continued.
HARDAWAY, along with LP Building Products will team with other local businesses to help the hit ABC series complete the build of two Nashville homes as they help make dreams come true. Hundreds of volunteers will be needed to assist the builders and other sponsors in accomplishing the daunting goal of building a new structure in one week – a task that normally takes construction crews months.
This marks the fourth time Extreme Makeover host Ty Pennington and the crew of the popular ABC series return to Tennessee. Back in 2005, Army Medic and Clarksville, Tennessee resident Louis Rodriguez and his family were given a new home by the show. In 2006, when The Hawkins Family of Hendersonville were in need of a new home after surviving a devastating tornado, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was there to help. Then, in December of 2009, Woodlawn, Tennessee's Trina Scott and her three young daughters were the third Tennessee family to receive a new home thanks to the show. Scott's late husband David was a member of the Army Special Forces, who after being discharged was killed in the line of duty as a Clarksville police officer.
These families aren't the only Music City residents who've been connected to the show. Over the years, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has enlisted the help of a number of country music's biggest stars. Everyone from Clint Black and Trace Atkins to Kellie Pickler and recent CMA multiple-nominee Miranda Lambert have stopped by to not only pitch in, but to provide a bit of music for several deserving families over the years.
While the celebrity guest for the episode hasn't been announced, if I were a betting man, I'd put my money on country cutie, Taylor Swift. Be sure and comment below with the country celebrity you hope lends a helping hand on the latest Tennessee build.
