Britney Spears has once again shocked the world but this time it’s something that could help her career. Performing last night in Greensboro, NC Spears sang live (yes I did say “sang live”). The singer who has lip synched her way through the entire Circus tour belted out a very impressive version of Alanis Morissette's You Oughta Know.
Spears appeared very confident in the performance and the crowd showed its approval afterwards with thunderous applause. This performance was a surprise to those in attendance and one that I think most Britney fans hope she will continue with. Spears upped the ante last night and it will be interesting to see if this was a one-time set change or a permanent addition to the tour.
Spears’ is currently on the second U.S. leg of the Circus tour making its way across the country. The closest that Britney & Co will be coming to Minnesota is next Saturday September 12th at the Allerus Center in Grand Forks, ND. Tickets are still available and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.
Check out the clip below and let us know what you think of the "live" performance.

I must say this really shocked me! she is covering a rock song!
awesome Britney....I'm proud of you....avril lavigne fine! But britney spears covering alanis morissette.....that's surprising!
She belted out that sound last night...and did a good job of it. Looked like she was doing "voice over" the rest of the time. But great concert either way.
AMAZING AND SHE ROCKED IT. LOVED IT AND BRITNEY IS THE BEST.
OMG Now officially she is the QUEEN OF POP!
I was on britneyboards last night when it was posted and I almost cried. Goosebumps for sure.
I love being a fan, you never know what's coming next, She's interesting beyond belief.
If she continues to grow like this she's well on her way to being the #1 female artist of the next decade just like she was for this past one. Unlike Madonna as well as other female artists out there now, she's a VERY skilled dancer... by the looks of this, she's a very talented vocalist as well... if she can put on a show with vocals like these and the dancing she's good at, it will be better than any other tour out there.
yeah, hers was Soo good. the song is suited well for her voice....totally beat ou beyonces' version...britey just connected with the audience way more!
Got chills, she did an amazing job... sounds like the voice from the "little Britney" from Star Search is back! If you haven't seen her belt it out on that clip be sure to head to youtube and check it out!
i just got to say that how amezing you are i'm your huge fan i love you
Plz Beyonce kills every artist out now!!! The is Beyonce and Britney still sound a mess lol
I LOVE YOU BRITNEY I AM CRAZY FOR YOU :D
SHUT UP BARBIE
SHUT UP BARBIE
I LOVE YOU BRITNEY!!!
SO MUCH!!!!
A lot of people are surprised about how good she was. If you go to Alanis forums, you'll see that the majority of her fans were pleasantly surprised, even those who usually hate when other artists do covers of her song. All of them pretty much agreed that it was a much better cover than Beyonce's. They liked Britney's vocals better and they found it insulting/disrespectful that Beyonce would have the nerve to change the lyrics like that. Beyonce may be the better technical vocalist but Britney's voice suits this song much more. Britney is also able to bring emotion to it whereas Beyonce can't b/c she has the personality of a robot. Beyonce will try to compensate by flailing all over the floor and shaking her butt but it she still can't capture the raw emotion of that song. Beyonce's version really destroys the whole essence of the strong and basically butchered it. Britney captured the angst and bitterness of the song even though she was mostly just standing there.
Hello i am Bill Britney's agent i am with her now she told me to tell you... "thank you guys so much for all your suport!! i love you!!! " she is so happy to get all this good comments from all of her fans! I hope you enjoy her knew songs. Ttyl
Bill And Britney! :)
Why is she doing a cover? She has million songs of herown...I don't get it! Eventhough she sounded "OK" I am still disappointed that she'd to do a cover song :(
Dwight, you are so picky and ungrateful! You should be proud of her! And she might didn't sing her own song so people wont think she lip syncing!
To Awesome:
I think everybody is entitled to his/herown opinion my dear. Personally, I wpuld love to hear her sing her ownsong, of course unless she has no confidence in herself that she'll not do better on herown songs. I think she woudn't dare to sing her own song cause people will end up comparing her live versions to her studio versions which apparently are more of computerized vocals rather than her pure voice and to me that proves how of a poor vocalist brittney is.
oh BTW the lip synching thing, thats a shame! and I don't this she is a pop-queen, not in million years.
Britney can't sing most of her songs b/c most of them require her to move a lot and she would be out of breath if she tried to sing. How can she sing while she is dancing in a cage, spinning around while dangling from two men, or running from one end of the stage to the other? She should sing Everytime though. It's a ballad and she is sitting in one place. She actually did sing part of Everytime at that concert b/c the pre-recorded tracks gave out, so she had to sing towards the end. She is very much capable of singing, she just needs gain back her confidence, give it time.
I thin ur right...she can't sing and dance at the same time...and i like more when i see her dancing,i know she can sing...and she's queen of pop for me...madonna also sings on playback...
@ Dwight
I completly agree with you on this one. A lot of pop singers are doing it at this time,Maddona, Christina... singing and dancing i mean. I think Britney might not be a good vocalist.Plus if you notice most of her songs have that computerized "electro" feel to it so she might not pull it live.I think she needs to go back to rehab and get it together..Poor Brit!
