I have followed this company closely for some time and I can tell you it's real. These guys are serious and are drilling down to the Permian layer (18,000ft), the most productive geological layer for oil and gas in the world.
Two major oil companies (EXXON & SHELL) both concluded in the 60s and 70s, respectively, that there were high probabilities of significant oil & gas reserves in Israel but did not follow up with any exploration for fear of Arab reactions.
One can only imagine what will happen if Zion Oil and Israel discover large oil & gas reserves. For many years this was discounted as nonsense. Even a Rabbinical joke quipped, "When Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt he took a wrong turn in the desert and settled them in the one place in the region that didn’t have oil."
There is a Permian Report for Zion Oil & Gas. Israel and Qatar appear to have a nearly identical Permian formations.
The Permian formation in Qatar is called the Khuff and is home to the largest natural gas field in the world (shared with Iran). While the Permian formation in Israel is called the Argov and it's potential seems equal to that of Qatar's Khuff.
When you consider Noble Energy just discovered 6.3 Trillion cu.ft. of natural gas 70 miles from Zion Oil & Gas 625 sq.miles worth of exploration licenses, it may be wise to investigate Israel's energy potential more thoroughly. Also, what an opportunity to invest at the infancy stage of energy in Israel. Could be very lucrative.

Timing is everything! It seems like Obama is ready to throw Israel under the bus. Now wouldn't it be wonderful if Israel discovered a vast oil find and be delivered from depending on the US.
