On November 10, 2009, San Francisco's Fog City Journal published "Obama's Serial Non-Transparency," David Bryson's brief critique of the president's artful dodges regarding the Emanuel/Blogevich wiretap incident, the Alberto Gonzelez' perjury, the Navy Seals sniper assasination of Somali pirates, and the ill-fated public option. Interesting detail, but, a slightly curious list of specific incidents----rather than wholesale institutional lies, including:
1) The Afghanistan War. Obama says we're fighting Al-Qaeda, but we know that it’s about oil and natural gas and oil and gas transport corridors, and, the self-perpetuation of the military industrial machine.
2) The expansion of AFRICOM, the U.S. Africa Command. Obama says it’s good for Africa, but most of us know that AFRICOM is a newly aggressive phase of imperial resource theft in Africa, which has surpassed the Middle East as a source of U.S. oil imports.
(Or, do we know this? I’m not sure how many Americans know that the U.S. is fighting a new kind of war in Africa—AFRICOM. It skips the “Vietnamization," "Iraqization," and “Afghanization” phases and largely Africanizes the war, with African proxy armies, though we are sending more U.S. soldiers and expanding bases all over Africa. )
3) The faux withdrawal from oil and gas-rich Iraq . (We all know that Iraq is still occupied,with mercenaries and security operatives replacing troops, and still wracked by violence.)
And here's avery specific, but also very large, failure of transparency, which I pointed out on 05.20.2009: Obama is lying about the Reliable Replacement Nuclear Warhead.
Obama is a sociopath, but that shouldn’t shock. He’s a U.S. President, and Commander-in-Chief of the largest, most lethal arsenal in history, which could destroy the world many times over, and, which has a budget many times the size of the next 45 national military budgets combined.
Ipso facto, he's a sociopath. But, it's nothing personal.

serial non transparency is not the same as being a sociopath. Obama is a hostage to the system he bought into and is now a wholly owned part of. Even as such, he could instigate some measure of progress. while i did not vote for him and would prefer Cynthia McKinney, by your logic she also would be a sociopath once she was sworn in. Or do you think she'd be able to dismantle the military industrial complex? we could re-issue the Black Panther Party's call to abolish the presidency, but we'd still be stuck with sociopathic senators and supreme court judges.
I don't think Cynthia McKinney would have drone bombed Pakistan within days of taking office, and yes, I think she would have begun immediate troop withdrawal and base closure. Do I think she "could"? Or, that Obama could? It's quite likely that either would be assassinated if they did--theoretically; this is all very theoretical---but, look at how many innocent people are dying now. Any other choice is sociopathic with so many innocent people, and the planet, are dying now.
Africans do not want anything to do with the imperialistic design of so-called Africom(actually AfriCON to put it correctly). This is a very good time not to create your Middleeast debacle and meddling. Stay out and keep out. Militarization can never rub Africans any good. The only African country that I know that wants AFRICON is liberia whose president is a direct descendant of freed American slaves and who still considers herself an American. Traitor is darn near is!!!I mean these people wanted out of American and back to Africa and now want back into America. Make up your damn mind and quit straddling both lines of the fence,damnit.
