Professional triathlete Jordan Rapp is hospitalized in the ICU with numerous broken bones, contusions and lacerations, and significant other injuries after a car accident last night in Los Angeles according to slowtwitch.com.
Rapp was riding his bike when a vehicle potentially made a left hand turn in front of him causing him to crash.
There were no witnesses to the accident and Jordan remains sedated and on a ventilator in the hospital. Doctors report that Jordan lost between two and three liters of blood due to the crash.
The exact cause of the accident is under investigation but slowtwitch.com reports that:
" Rapp's brain function is normal, and there is no indication of nerve or spinal cord injury.
Officer Paramo suspects a commuting "farm worker" made a left-hand turn into oncoming traffic. The accident occurred at the intersection of Lewis Road and Old Lewis Road in the Los Angeles County area of Oxnard"
Jordan was scheduled to race the 70.3 Oceanside triathlon this weekend.

Actually the accident occurred in Camarillo in Ventura County, not far from Calif. State Univ., Channel Islands. I passed by the scene of the accident later after Rapp had been taken away. There was a lot of blood and broken glass.
