
The 2009 LA Marathon Course
The richest single prize purse in marathon running could go to a fast runner at the LA Marathon.
But that route of the race will also mean that dozen of downtown street will be closed.

According to to Fox News:
"The area between Third and Fifth streets from Flower Street to Grand Avenue will be closed for marathon preparations as of Sunday night.
Northbound Figueroa Street from Seventh Street to Wilshire Boulevard will be closed beginning at 5 a.m. Monday, when the LA Bike Tour will begin, followed by the wheelchair race at 7 a.m. and the marathon at 7:08 a.m. A 5- kilometer run will start at 8:30 a.m.
Streets that are part of the 26-mile, 385-yard race course will also close at 5 a.m.
The marathon starts at Sixth and Figueroa streets in downtown. Runners will head south on Figueroa to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, north on Vermont Avenue to Exposition Boulevard, south on Arlington Avenue around Leimert Park and back north on Crenshaw Boulevard to Venice Boulevard."
