Dallas -- OK, let's have a show of hands. Did you make New Years resolutions? Were any in the popular categories of 'get in shape,' 'lose weight,' or 'be more charitable?'

One more question. How's that going for you?

If you're like the majority of us well meaning souls, you could use help in keeping your resolutions. Experts say most aren't kept because the goal is vague, there isn't a structure for getting started, and a lack of accountability to keep you on track. Sadly, a fitter and healthier you may be put off another year and the causes you care about yearn for more support.

Only if there was an organization to help with keeping your resolutions. Some place that would bring together people just like you wanting to help charities and structure a training program to get you in shape, and complete a lofty goal, say, complete a triathlon while raising bucket loads of dough for a cause close to your heart.

If only....

Well, Dear Altruistic Athlete, or athlete want-to-be, fret no more because there is such a place and it's called All Tri.

Founded in late 2008, the Dallas based non-profit trains people of any ability to complete a triathlon while raising money for a charity of the athlete's choice. That's a big distinction from similar organizations. Instead of the funds raised going to the charity associated with the training organization, All Tri athletes' efforts support a charity chosen by the athlete.

In 2009 All Tri's 50 athletes raised $126,000 for 26 different charities. Athletes received personal swim, bike, and run triathlon instruction from a certified coach and fundraising guidance from experienced advisors. The athletes met at least twice a week for group swims and training. They also were given personalized web pages to help solicit donations.

Co-founder and Chairman, Randall White says, "All Tri lives its motto: Your Fitness, Your Cause. That's what makes us unique from other endurance sports organizations. The big pay-off comes when the athlete presents the check to the beneficiary charity. Everyone involved is motivated and inspired."

Participants meeting the fundraising minimum receive entry into the triathlon, lodging, and transportation at no cost.

All Tri is currently recruiting for two triathlons, the Capital of Texas Triathlon in May and the San Francisco Triathlon at Treasure Island in July. They are holding an informational recruitment meeting this weekend:

10 a. m., Saturday, January 30

Maggiano's Little Italy, Northpark Mall (214) 360-0707

8687 N. Central Expressway, Dallas 75225
