The LA Design Challenge 2009 is unleashing a flurry of innovative designs and elegant solutions.
The gist is that the future never looked so bright. The LA Design Challenge 2009 encompasses the exuberance of what tomorrow's EV could look like.
Imagining Tomorrow. Here is a list of some of the projects:
Audi Joins The EV Race. If Audi was late to the game, they are coming in en force with two prototypes, the eSpira and the eOra. The first is an extension of your body and senses that uses the smallest body movements and gestures to drive the EV. The eOra is a “sport” version of the eSpira.
Honda's Helix. Honda is also full swing into the EV thing with its Helix, a car that uses advanced adaptive polymers, capable of shifting shape, color and material properties, when coupled with a user's DNA, will allow a vehicle to not just function as transportation, but rather be an extension of the user, evolving in parallel with the user throughout his or her life. Talk about customizing your ride!
Mazda's VMazda, Make It Your Own. Mazda has a concept called Souza and is also taking the route of personalization with a virtual reality website that acts as a design playground for young people, allowing them to experiment, build, and share their automotive dreams in a virtual world at no cost.
Nissan's V2G Capable EV. Nissan's V2G ready EV will have the company's comprehensive and affordable range of GRID access plans have also helped to make V2G the market leader.
Toyota Finds The Link. Toyota is also going away from mass marketed vanilla cars to an affordable customizable, mass transit vehicle for students with high social networking demands and continuously evolving preferences.
What can we conclude from all this? That car manufacturers are finally getting the pictures that most cars are deadly boring with a serious need to fun, practicality, performance and social responsibility. And we can have it all. More on this next week.
