Kristin Davis, the "Manhattan Madam" who ended former former Governor Eliot Spitzer's political career today began her own, annnouncing at a Manhattan news conference that she's running for governor.
Davis, who was introduced by a former Penthouse Pet called herself "an outsider" and "the only candidate who is not part of the corrupt and dysfunctional system of New York state politics." Calling New York state government "a national joke" Davis vowed to bring her experience in finance and as a chief executive to the governor's mansion.
Davis stressed that she's more than just a madam. She graduated high school at 15 and has a bachelor's degree in finance. She's currently finishing her Master's degree and spent 10 years as VP of a Hedge Fund.
"I've created jobs and made payroll," said Davis. "I also built a multi-million dollar international business from scratch. This alone makes me more qualified than the career politicians who are seeking the governorship.
Asked what she thinks of Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo, the likely Democratic Party nominee and Rick Lazio, the likely Republican Party nominee, Davis said that she "looks forward to hearing their ideas and to a vigorous debate."
Her economic prescription for New York is "P Squared - prostitution and pot." She says that legalization of both, a combed $15 Billion a year industry annualy in New York alone could help bridge the budget gap by taxation alone. "This black market activity is happening anyway," said Davis. "Taxing it is just common sense."
Davis has hired veteran political consultant Roger Stone to manage her campaign.
"I've always been a libertarian and I agree with all of the principles that Kristin believes in," Stone told examiner.com. "She's got a wide appeal and will garner widespread support."
But before Davis can run, she's got to get herself on the ballot and that will take 15,000 valid petition signatures.
Stone told examiner.com that Davis will use her vast network of supporters as well as "prostitutes, strippers, pot smokers and gay rights advocates" to gather at least 45,000 petition signatures, as well as to build a legal team to withstand challenges he expects from both Cuomo and Lazio.
One prostitute present at the announcement said that she looks forward to standing in Grand Central Terminal in her underwear with a clipboard collecting signatures for Davis.

Is she serious, if she gets then NY would be a national joke, and I am already thinking about the Jay Leno jokes.
Just what I want my children to see. What the hell is the world coming to?
Hey HollyRock and Jenni. SCREW OFF. She is just what this state needs. This government is a complete failure. People going to jail for years for a plant that causes no physical or mental harm to anyone, While People who murder or rape get off scott free or within a few years on parole. Are You really That uptight in your ways where this change would cause you issues. As opposed to what is already going on. People like you make me sick. And as far as im concerned. You can take a long walk off a short dock.
Personally I love weed and i adore strippers so I will sign anything and I'll be voting for kristin as well. I count the days until I can smoke a blunt with the prostitute of my choice anywhere I please!
Kristin seems like she is smart, but she earned her money the illegal way. So why vote for someone who has not been indicted for her crimes (sex trafficking)? Now she will be in a powerful role over a whole city, what kind of deviant actions will she participate in that the people will not know about. Not to mention her morals are already lose. Guys, stop thinking with your head in your pants and really understand what it would be like for the women if prostitution is legalized.
@NY one:
What it will be like for the women? Right now prostitution happens in back alleys, under the radar, in horrible conditions. These girls are doing something illegal, they are more likely to contract and spread STIs, they are more likely to be getting into trouble, the list goes on and on and on.
If prostitution was legalized and regulated, these women could be looked out for. They could be taken care of, given proper medical care, registered, monitored, it would be safer for everyone.
I am a woman. I support the legalization of prostitution.
