The Association is promoting two new resources this month: The Caregiver Notebook and the Comfort Zone™.
The Alzheimer's Association Caregiver Notebook was created with input from real people dealing with the day-to-day care of a loved one with the disease. There are useful tips, such as legal and financial planning, as well as designated spaces for personal notes and recording details, for future reference. The notebook is reasonably priced at under $20 but is available in limited quantities. Purchases support the Association's ongoing research.
Alzheimer’s Association Comfort Zone™, powered by Omnilink, is a location device that uses GPS to help you keep tabs on your loved one's current position. This is done with a device, such as a pager or a car-mounted unit, that communicates with the Comfort Zone web application. The service comes with the MedicAlert® + Alzheimer's Association's Safe Return® program, providing 24-hour emergency response for wandering and medical emergencies.
The best part about these services is the peace of mind that elder care providers can achieve while continuing to allow some independence for the aging family member.
