The Elbert County Sheriff's Office (ECSO) is holding a special benefit for Kassandra Merryfield (pictured).
The spaghetti dinner, to be held on March 6, 2010 from 4-7pm at Big Sandy High School in Simla will benefit Kassandra and her family. Kassandra (17) was involved in a car accident on December 1, 2009 just outside the Town of Simla, leaving her in a wheelchair. Lt. Michelle Mattive met Kassandra during the Christmas season and according to the ESCO announcement she was impressed by the positive outlook this young woman has in spite of what she has been through. At no time "has Kassandra ever presented with a 'poor me' attitude and she is an excellent example of what this country needs more of" the announcement says.
The Elbert County Sheriff's Office is calling for donations of items to be auctioned by Commissioner Del Schwab during the dinner benefit.
Please put on your calendar March 6, 4-7pm Big Sandy High School for this important benefit and plan to spend the evening alongside the Elbert County Sheriff's Office with Kassandra and her Mother.
Check the Elbert County Calendar for more information.
If you have questions, or items you would like to donate to be auctioned, please call Lt. Michelle Mattive at 303-805-6110

Hope they raise a lot of money for her!
That is a bittersweet story. It is sad to see people have tough times, but inspiring to see that some people can still handle themselves with dignity and grace.
Its hard to be positive in a situation like that. Hope they raise a lot of money for her!
