Below is a heartwarming story that involves a dog, a family that wanted a dog, and a wonderful stranger who taught a roomful of people a lesson in holiday kindness and generosity.

Here is the summary of this great story:

  • The Narsh family from Michigan saved up all of their Christmas dollars to attend a Lions Club charity auction so they could bid $400 on a puppy that their children had fallen in love with.
  • The family was outbid immediately. The mother tried to comfort her 9-year-old son, who was heartbroken.
  • A man named Richard Paszek, who was sitting at the family's table, won the dog for $1150.
  • After claiming his prize, this stranger handed the dog's papers to the boy saying “Here’s your dog.”
  • The crowd at the Lions Club gave Mr. Paszek a standing ovation. Hundreds cheered, cried and hugged both parties.

“Everybody called me the next day and they said at that moment, that single act just totally optimized and released emotions,” the father, Jerry Narsh, told the Oakland Press.

“Everybody is carrying this weight of a depressed economy around with them….In that single moment, everybody kind of got that cloud lifted.”

He continued: “That single act of kindness has greatly impacted our Christmas spirit and, of course, will stay with us for many years to come.”

Does it get any better than that? Education doesn't always happen in school, does it?

Love it! Nothing is more basic than a boy and his dog. If everyone had a dog to adore the world would be a happier place.
