Career Stimulus Package offers career coaching, scholarships, internships

Over 100 full-ride scholarships and 100 paid internships will be offered at the RV Empowerment Tour, which is stopping in 40 cities throughout the summer.

The RV Tour is part of a larger campaign called "The Career Stimulus Package,” which is sponsored by elearners.com along with major college and corporate sponsors from across the country.

At the events, free career coaching will be offered on-site by two career coaches and Flavia Colgan, the tour's spokesperson.

This traveling campaign targets working adults who are under-employed or unemployed, and promotes the importance of continuing education for career advancement.

“This is better than a bailout,” said Jordan Simon of Terry Hines & Associates. “It’s a long term solution.”

The tour launched in Denver on June 12th and will conclude in Los Angeles on September 9th. The 40 different stops also include Washington DC on July 14th and 15th.

The Empowerment Tour spokesperson Colgan is a political commentator and news correspondent who has appeared regularly on dozens of national television shows, including the O'Reilly Factor, MSNBC, CBS Early Show, Extra, Travel Channel, FOX News, the Montel Williams Show and Larry King Live.

“With nationwide unemployment at more than 8% and only about 29% of all Americans 25 and older holding a bachelors degree, this is an opportune time to promote the value of higher education,” according to Simon.

“People with a college degree are doing much better in these tough economic times than those without.”

In April, the unemployment rate for people with at least a bachelor’s degree was at 4.4 percent; however, for Americans with only a high school diploma, the unemployment rate more than doubled to 9.3 percent.
