A laptop for every student... sounds wonderful doesn't it? What you should remember, however, it that when you accept 'free item" from a local school district or from your state, you become subject to the rules and abuses that come with it.
Apparently, an assistant principal contacted the Robbin's family (who are part of the lawsuit) and confronted "Robbins about "improper behaviour in his home,” and showed him a picture taken from Robbins' school-issued laptop".
It seems the schools can spy on clickstreams, emails, and whatever might be going on in the home at any given moment. This includes private discussions, and people getting dressed and undressed depending on where the laptop is located. Meanwhile, the students thought the web cams were just for chatting with their teachers.
If you have a school issued laptop in your home, I have a suggestion. Use a band-aid. Literally, put a band-aid over the web cam eye until you are ready to use it for school use. Also place the school laptop in a laptop bag when not in use.

No, you don't.
Explain Sara... the point is nothing is free and without strings, especially an expensive computer.
