Dekalb County schools deny responsibility in suicide death

It was announced today that Dekalb County schools have denied any responsibility in the suicide death of a young boy (Jaheem Herrera) due to bullying in school.  (Inquiry results expected in death of 5th grader ) They claim there have been no reports of bullying even though the mother personally has reported bullying.  They claim there is NO bullying at the school even though other families claim there is.  They claim the boy was fighting, and not trying to defend himself in an incedent where he was choked and reportedly passed out.

There is no justice for a grieving parent and a clear message has been sent that your kids will not be protected in schools.  This is indeed a sad state of events.

This is a real issue that schools do not address. When my 6th grade son was bullied emotionally and physically, the school blew me off and told me to make him stick it through and toughen it up. Instead I pulled him from the school, and his happy personality soon returned. There are things they do in schools that promote bullying, for example telling them to choose partners and having some kids always left out, rather than mixing kids.
