Not everyone is feeling worried, sick, or worried sick about the swine flu (H1N1) pandemic. Clorox, makers of bleach and desinfecting wipes, are seeing some serious financial stimulus thanks to the mass swine flu scare.
Profits are up 23% compared to last year. The dramatic increase in profits for Clorox can be attributed to the increased sales of desinfecting wipes. The public would probably not have felt the need for more bleach products if it wasn't for the H1N1 virus spreading around the world. Swine flu is a scary reality at this point, and it is comforting to think people are taking action to prevent the disease from spreading. As far as Clorox is concerned, I'm sure they too are happy consumers are taking a conscious effort in keeping the swine flu at bay.
Investors are can happily ride this positive side of the swine flu scare, as shares in the company rose from close to $45 last year, to $59.40 today.
