SafetyFestMT Can Save Business Their Dollars, Employees Their Lives

In Montana, workers are more likely to be injured at work, killed in a workplace incident, and take more time to return to work after a workplace injury than workers in almost every other state in the country. This is particularly true of eastern Montana with all the highly dangerous jobs that require workers out in all weather conditions, working long hours, and in a crunch to get it all done. However, energy workers are not the only ones at risk for high injury rates in a boom. Eastern Montana businesses have the highest rates in the state, and Montana has the highest workers compensation rates in the nation. A free workshop in Billings next week can help your business lower those rates.

In the audio to the left of this column,The Examiner spoke with Carl Kochman, WorkSafeMT board of directors and communications and PR team leader for Montana State Fund about the problem of workplace safety and what SafetyFestMT will provide.

SafetyFestMT will be in Billings May 16 – May 20, 2011. The classes held at the Holiday Inn Grand/Montana Convention Center and hosted by WorkSafeMT are open to all Montana workers, managers and business owners. More information can be found at http://www.safetyfestmt.com.
