Review - Salvation Bride - Historical Romance

Salvation Bride – Anna Kathryn Lanier

One of the best treats about reading downloadable e-books is that they come in all word counts. Even novellas are accepted for publication and offer readers the opportunity for a quick and easy read. Salvation Bride by Anna Kathryn Lanier allows you to trek back to Salvation, Texas in the 1800s and glimpse the life of a mail-order bride.  This offering by Anna K was voted number one in the recent Preditors and Editors Poll and is available through The Wild Rose Press

Memories of the War Between the States still haunt Laura Ashton. She spent years in an orphanage until he uncle returned from battle and found her. He took her in, gave her an education and encouraged her to peruse The Matrimonial Gazette for a suitable mate. The man also provided her with a generous dowry. She travels from Ohio to Texas to meet her prospective husband, Sheriff David Slade.

David Slade is a widower with a young daughter. He harbors extreme guilt over what happened to his previous wife, but now he needs someone to see to his child’s upbringing. Laura arrives on the afternoon stage, looking far prettier than the tin-type she sent him. While he believes his promise not to bed her will make her feel more secure, the vow drives a wedge between the newlyweds. Laura wonders why he visits his former wife’s grave instead of sharing his conversations with her. She has a secret she needs to share with him, but by the time she has a chance to tell him, the entire town already knows.

Salvation Bride is a short, enjoyable read packed with action, romance, some pretty steamy sex scenes, and revelations from both characters you won’t see coming. Reading a book that surprises you is always a plus, and Salvation Bride is guaranteed to leave you satisfied.

Anna Kathryn Lanier also has a very active and informative blog.

On thing that's funny about writers, or at least this writer, even though we know we've written a good story and sold it....it's always nice when other people, besides family, confirms our belief in our story. Thanks, Ginger, for the wonderful reveiw. I'm so glad you like this story. David and Laura were a pleasure to write about and I enjoyed telling their romance.
