eBay announces their 2010 Spring Seller Update

Chris Mitchell

Today eBay announced their 2010 Spring seller Update which includes major changes to eBay stores and fee along with other changes to be launched March 2010.

The biggest changes was hinted about by John Donahoe during the earnings call last week - and that would be to store inventory.  eBay will be eliminating the store inventory format in March.  All store inventory items will be converted over to fixed price format.  Along with this change all items in a sellers store will be in the core search results - this of course will mean more exposure for inventory.  This additional exposure comes with a hefty price tag.  Currently store inventory format comes with a 3 cent insertion fee, this will jump as high as 20 cents for a basic store.  A premium store  will incur a 4 cent insertion fee while an anchor store will be able to still receive the 3 cent insertion fee.

The monthly subscription fee for a store will remain the same, however there are new requirements for having a store.

  • Basic store ($15.95/mo)- a minimum feedback of 15

  • Premium Store ($49.95/mo and Seller Manager Pro FREE) - you will also be required have a seller performance rating "Above Standard."

  • Anchor Store ($299.95/mo and Seller Manager Pro FREE) - you will also be required have a seller performance rating "Above Standard."

There will also be different insertion and final vale fees for auction style listings depending on if you have a store or not.

EBay will be discontinuing the store referral credit on March 30th, 2010.

eBay is also expanding their protection for both buyers and sellers.

Read the full announcement here - http://pages.ebay.com/sellerinformation/news/OverviewJan2010.html there will be a eBay Town Hall  on these changes Wednesday afternoon at 5:30 CT.  There is also a webinar/workshop scheduled for Thursday at 1pm cT.
