Feeling successful is key to encouraging a child who is beginning to read. If your child can recognize letters and knows some letter sounds than he or she will love the Bob Books from Scholastic.

These little books are simple but cute. Parents and children can spend a few minutes practicing and before long a new reader will be born! The pride and excitement when a child exclaims, "I can read a whole book!" is wonderful.

Bobby Lynn Maslen has written five sets of these engaging little stories and there are a number of additional related resources available. The books are available at local libraries and bookstores (see Storytime article for a list of locations) and they are also available at Coscto and Amazon.com

For some tips on helping your child learn to read see the Bob Book Blog on the Scholastic website.
