Carter with his 1st circle soap creation
The best ideas are often ones that come out of a need. One such invention is CircleSoaps. They were invented by a 7 year old who wanted to make it easier to hold onto his soap.
These cool soaps now come in a bunch of colors and designs - and little kids love them! My girls both enjoy washing their hands with these at the sink and they really are a lot easier for them to hold.
I asked Carter Rowen, who is now 8, about his invention to find out his inspration and see if he's got any other great ideas in the works.
Examiner: How did you come up with the idea of CircleSoap?
Carter: I was playing with some soap in our bathroom one day and making a hole in the middle. My mom said "Hey Carter, stop making that hole and ruining my soap!" But after a couple of days my little sisters were using the soap and it was easier for them to use. So one day I told my mom that we should make soaps with holes in the middle, and sell them to raise money to buy the homeless people an apartment so they could live there for free.
Examiner: What is your favorite CircleSoap?
Carter: The oatmeal fish
Examiner: Any other genius inventions in the works? If Yes, what.
Carter: I'm working on 3 things:
1) The tissue-o-matic: a robot that senses when you're about to sneeze and it comes up to you and hands you a tissue out of the top of its head.
2) Dog mat for the pool. Its a mat that covers a vinyl pool (not an underground pool but an above the ground one) so your dog can come in but it's sharp claws won't poke a hole in the side or bottom of the pool.
3) Floaties for dogs: little padded floaties they wear on their paws to keep them up when they're doing the doggie paddle.
Examiner: What do you want to be when you grow up?
Carter: A scientist for space and one that makes robots.
Examiner: Anything else you want to add?
Carter: We are taking some of the profit from the sales of CircleSoap and purchasing items for "We Care Kits". We Care Kits are individually packaged supplies of personal care (hygiene) items contained in a zip lock bag, along with a personal note of encouragement. These kits are used as welcome bags for new homeless guests at the Hope Ministries shelters in Iowa. We have a goal to purchase enough kits for a one year supply (about 1700 kits).
