This special edition celebrity baby name of the day is... Satyana, the name of the new daughter of Alyson Hannigan and her husband Alexis Denisof.
People magazine is reporting that Hannigan gave birth to her little bundle of joy on her own 35th birthday (cool!) - March 24.
The name Satyana comes from two Sanskrit words, according to the Satyana Institute - "sat, which means truth or being, and also refers to action aligned or suffused with spirit; and yana, which means vehicle. So "satyana" means a vehicle for action infused with the grace of spirit." The Satyana Institute, btw, is a non-profit group dedicated to helping women.
Pretty name and meaning.
Congrats to their family!

Great name! I love it when parents put real thought into their children's names.
i hate to sound cynical but this is just another "celebrity couple" who picked an obscure namesake to let the world know how 'enlightened" they are.... isn't that precious.
Alison herself said in an interview that the name Satyana comes from the name Satya, the Sankrit word meaning "truth", and she and her husband added the "ana" because her husband is of Russian heritage.
Useintel, there is nothing pretentious about giving your child an "obscure" name. My parents named me after the Greek word that means "truth". They're the most humble people I've ever known. Don't be so short-sighted and judgmental. We all don't want to be Jessica or Ryan.
Yeah of course Useintel, I bet that you assume that if your parents are named "Alyson" and "Alexis", their kids should be "Addison" or "Ava"... Meh. Boring and common. Love the name, love the meaning. If it's a celeb name, it's better than most.
