Art and children go hand in hand. Kids love to whip out the crayons, markers and paint and start drawing. It's great creative brain stimulation and a part of every kids growing process.
Now you can encourage your little artist by giving them some in-home art lessons (as a sticking stuffer maybe) without spending lots of money with the new DVD out today: Art House: Volume 1: Basic Shapes and Animals.
This DVD is made just for preschoolers and kindergartners!
In addition to learning how to draw dogs, fish, birds, dinosaurs and other basic things kids love, they also learn colors and shapes. "Developing artistic skills at an early age has proven to promote problem solving, communication, curiosity and perspective," according to the video.
The Art House series was created by Amy Wilkes, a USC School of Cinematic Arts graduate and Tiffany Jennings, an elementary school teacher.
“When schools feel the financial crunch, art programs are the first to go,” says Wilkes. “The Art House series nurtures young minds and offers parents a chance to create art with their child even if neither have any experience in drawing. Seeing our children’s faces light up with pride as they complete a drawing makes the whole project worthwhile.” Adds Jennings, “We’ve seen the confidence that art skills can bring to children. By simply learning how to draw, they are unlocking a wealth of developmental abilities.”
My 2 year old and 3.5 year old both love to draw and both think this DVD is great fun. They sit with serious faces as they learn how to draw along with the DVD. It's a great confidence builder for them and they don't ask me (as much) to draw a dog for them on their paper. Instead, they give it a go themselves.
