Colorado teacher gave ex-student love letters, emails during relationship

Abigail Holloway, the Colorado teacher who is being accused of having an intimate relationship with a student while teaching in California, was involved with the girl for several years, according to the former student.

The girl, now a student at Whitworth College in Spokane, WA, recently told a school counselor about the relationship. She said she and Holloway were involved between 2001 and 2005, when Holloway left California and moved to Colorado.

During that time, according to the girl, she and Holloway were intimate "over 100 times" and Holloway gave the girl a 2½-inch-thick binder with love letters, cards and poems.

"We have a very special relationship. It is a gift from God," states an alleged e-mail from Holloway to the girl in March 2003. "Not many people are going to understand that, but we know in our hearts that God made us for each other!"

The relationship began when the girl was 13.

Holloway has been removed from her teaching job at St. Mary's Academy in Cherry Hills Village and was arrested last week on sexual-assault charges.
