Last week, we worked on the letter J. This week we're hopping back to the letter H.
Some words that begin with the letter H are: hand, heart, Hanukkah, habitat, horse, hamper, happy, harvest, hat, heavy, and helicopter.
Menu:
- Hummus
- Haddock
- Honey
Math & Science:
- Gather multiple objects. Have the children hold two (one in each hand) and decide which object is the heaviest.
- Cut out different sized hearts from construction paper. Put them in a hat and have the children pull them out and sort by size. You could also do this using colors or numbers. For older children, you could put a small hole in the top of the heart and have the children put the hearts on the string or ribbon by size or number.
Arts & Crafts:
- Use construction paper to create Holly. See the slide show for an example and use the template at DLTK.
- Make a handprint wreath. See the slide show for an example of a paper handprint wreath and checkout No Time For Flash Cards for one they created using pieces of foam.
- Check out Enchanted Learning for more handprint crafts.
Pretend Play:
- Turn your dramatic play area into a hair salon. Have a toy hair dryer, brush, empty spray bottles, curlers, and other hair accessories available. Include a sign-in sheet, cash register, telephone, and play money.
- Turn your dramatic play area into a hat shop. Have a variety of hats in different sizes and colors. Have the children stock the hat shop by sorting the hats by color or size. Have a cash register, shopping bags, and play money available.
Music & Movement:
- Check out Everything Preschool for Letter H songs.
