Looking for activities to keep your preschoolers busy this Holiday season. These inexpensive crafts will help keep your little ones busy and entertained on Christmas day.
Popsicle stick snowflakes:
Gather your supplies. You will need: popsicle or craft sticks, paint (optional), liquid non-toxic glue, paper plates, and glitter.
Put a small amount of glue on a paper plate. Place one popsicle or craft stick on the glue. Using your glue, stack the popsicle or craft sticks on one another so they resemble a snowflake. Your children can paint the "snowflakes" or just add glitter. Before adding glitter, be sure to glue all over the sticks, as well as, the paper plate. Let dry and tip plate over to allow excess glitter to fall off. Punch holes, and insert ribbon so that you can hang your festive creations.
Greeting card placemats:
Gather your supplies. You will need: construction paper, cardstock, or a large piece of cardboard, old greeting cards, scissors, contact paper (optional) and glue.
Cut your paper or cardboard to the desired size. You could trace a placemat or cut it to approximately 13 x 19. Go through the greeting cards with your children and decide what picture and/or words from the cards you would like to cut out. You can also use the entire card. Glue all pictures and/or words to your paper or cardboard.
You can add contact paper to make your placemats more durable. Use these creative placemats for your Holiday dinner.
Greeting card ornaments:
Here's another project you can do to use up some of those greeting cards. Turn them into ornaments. The only supplies you need are: greeting cards, glue, scissors, glitter, and ribbon.
Paper plate Santa Clause:
Gather your supplies. You will need: paper plate, Santa hat cut out from red construction paper, cotton balls, googly eyes, liquid glue, and pom poms.
Put glue on your paper plate that looks like Santa's beard. Have your child put cotton balls where the glue is for a big white beard. Place googly eyes, a pom pom for Santa's nose, and draw Santa's mouth. Add Santa's hat to the top of the paper plate and glue a pom to the tip of it.
Christmas coloring pages:
Print some of these holiday coloring pages from DLTK, and include some crayons for each child.
Holiday play-dough:
Have some play dough available with Christmas cookie cutters (used only for play-dough).
Using some of these ideas and a little bit of creativity will keep children entertained during the holidays.
