The latest animated adventure from Warner Bros. and DC, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies is kicking off the DVD and Blu-ray releases for this week. For me, this is the best DC Animated film to date; be sure to check out my full review of the film to find out why!
As far as DC animated movies go, I have seen all of them, and I must say that I think this one may be my favorite so far. Superman/Batman: Public Enemies is exciting and action-packed during its short 67 minute run-time. The animation is solid and the style suits the action and the story perfectly. Superman is a hard-hitting powerhouse and Batman is sneaky, nimble, and tough as nails and the animators took this into account when creating these amazing action sequences. All of the fight scenes were clear, you could tell what was going on, and they keep you on the edge of your seat.

Next, we have a tender film from Sam Mendes (American Beauty). Away We Go features great performances from Maya Rudolf (Saturday Night Live!) and John Krasinski (The Office) as an expectant couple as they travel the country looking for the best town/city to put down roots and raise their new family. Over the course of their journey, friends old and new, relatives, and strangers all help the couple discover what "home" really means. This is a very well done film, very touching, and worth a watch.

We have another good animated film being released today with Monsters Vs. Aliens. This film features an all-star voice cast that includes Reese Witherspoon, Seth Rogen, Will Arnett, Rainn Wilson, Amy Poehler, Kiefer Sutherland, Stephen Colbert, Paul Rudd, Jeffrey Tambor, and Hugh Laurie among others! If you haven't seen Monsters Vs. Aliens, the movie alone is worth picking up the DVD/Blu-ray for, but it sounds like Paramount and Dreamworks has thrown in a ton of special features as well (you can check out the full specs here)!

The last highlight for this week is the 70th Anniversary Edition of The Wizard of Oz. Boasting all of the same special features from the 2005 special edition release, the 70th Anniversary edition also has some new material including a documentary on Director Victor Fleming and several new featurettes. While all seem pretty interesting, I would maybe pass on this if you already have the 2005 special edition; but, if you don't own a copy of this great film on DVD yet, you now have plenty of reasons to buy it now!
Other notable releases this week: Management • How I Met Your Mother (S4) • CSI: NY (S5) • Labyrinth (Blu-ray) • The Dark Crystal (Blu-ray) • Batman Collection: 4 Film Favorites • Ocean's Collection: 4 Film • The Real Ghostbusters (Series) • Snakes on a Plane (Blu-ray)
As always, all of these titles are now available on Amazon!
