Based on the novel The Big Year: A Tale of Man, Nature and Fowl Obsession by Mark Obmascik, three avid birders Stu Preissler, Brad Harris and Kenny Bostick are at a crossroads. Stu is going through work-life crisis, Brad has a no-life crisis and Bostick hits mid-life crisis. The three strangers decide to take a year off from their obligations and responsibilities and go on a transformative journey to follow their dreams to become the greatest birder. As Bostick, the previous year’s winner, tries hard to keep his reigning birder title for a record 732 sightings, Stu and Brad enter into a pact to beat him. While traversing across North America to see who can spot the most species of birds within one calendar year, they all learn that there is more to life than winning.
