My work in the world is to be a voice for Nature and to help people reconnect with her. I'm currently working on a book that compares the effects of junk food on the body to the effects of pollution in the ocean, and I hope to show with this book how interconnected we are and how many of our current issues stem from our separation from the Earth.
-Katrina Martin Davenport, author, artist, dreamer
In Ancient circles there was talk of Nature Spirits: Of faeries, nymphs, fauns and even giants that would communicate with humans and share their knowledge for the benefit of the Earth. Sadly over the years, we humans separated ourselves from Nature (and thus our own true natures) and soon these creatures disappeared into the shadow of myth and legend along with the ability to commune with them: All to the detriment of the planet. Thankfully for us, Katrina Martin Davenport has reactivated this ability. Like the fairy folk of yesteryear, her intention coupled with deep intuition and gift for the dreamtime led her on a most mystical path: The repair and reunion with these Intelligent Beings.

Katrina will be graduating with a master's degree in Consciousness and Transformative Studies this June. With years of training, lifelong experiences and deep connections with Nature, this has truly been her path from the very beginning. And her first gateway: The Dreamtime. Katrina explains, “First, I am a dreamer. My dreams often involve animals, nature, and the elements and through my nightly encounters I have gained a tremendous amount of wisdom from them. Dreams are monumental to me. In 2008 I recorded more than 1,000 dreams in my dream journal.” Being a prolific dreamer, Katrina can remember upward to five dreams when she awakens in the morning: Each one telling her something important if she is willing and able to listen. “My dreams have led me on the path I'm on: they told me that my purpose in this life is to work on behalf of Nature, and I take that very seriously. I've found my guides and allies in Dreamtime, including Owl, Hawk, and Bear. I am grateful for Dreamtime and its wisdom.”
One dream series that was particularly meaningful for Katrina was part of a paper she presented at the last IASD conference, entitled “The Owl and the Pussycat: Animal Visitations in Dreams and Waking Life” Katrina emphasizes “these dreams still remain as some of the most powerful I've had. In them, owls, cats, and hawks sent me messages that led to me reclaiming my identity as a writer and artist. These dreams proved to be incredibly healing for me, and solidified those animals as powerful guides in my life.”

Another healing aspect of Katrina’s life is being here in the Bay Area. It seems like three times is indeed the charm because she has lived here thrice now: The first time was when she was 18 and looking for adventure in San Jose for a summer. The second time was when she was 21: Being drawn to San Francisco she landed a job fresh out of college, and then finally the third time when she moved here to make a fresh start, reconnect with the ocean and the redwoods, and see about making a life here in California. Katrina muses “Because there are so many ways to visit nature: the tide pools in Half Moon Bay, the redwoods in Oakland and Marin County, the estuaries and beaches in Point Reyes, the lush hills of Mount Diablo and Mount Tamalpais...and within just a few hours there's Monterey Bay and the Sierras.”
Katrina is also a writer, photographer, teacher, artist, and intuitive and is currently working on a book that compares the effects of junk food on the body to the effects of pollution in the ocean. She will be presenting this work on Wednesday, June 16th at 3:00 PM located at John F. Kennedy University 100 Ellinwood Way in Pleasant Hill, CA. “I hope to show with this book how interconnected we are and how many of our current issues stem from our separation from the Earth.”
In lieu of all the environmental disasters and challenges facing our planet today, Katrina’s voice is needed more than ever.
