Today is Mother’s Day: a time when we honor the mothers in our lives that birthed us, celebrate the women who raised us including aunts, sisters, grandmothers, teachers and guardians and to recognize the land that held us who we affectionately and not surprisingly call Mother Earth. This can also bring opportunity to look to our ancestors and the land in remembering who we are and our indigenous ways of knowing. Please join scholar, writer and professor Kimmy K. Johnson, PhD for On the Path of the Ancestors: Remembering our Relationship to Earth; an extraordinary journey of exploration and renewal.
Kimmy Johnson writes of the workshop, “We begin where we are standing. From that place, we begin to remember who we are, and in the remembering, come into right sized relationship with all that is. When we restore balance within ourselves, when we remember who we are and what our true relationship is with the Earth, we can take action that brings healing and renewal. By examining what we have absorbed from our life experiences, our families and our culture, we are able to question assumptions and make choices that empower us in all aspects of our lives.” The gathering consists of two evening sessions and then a full day of sharing and ceremony held in a beautiful private home in the Oakland hills which will also include a shared meal (potluck).
