Attention San Francisco Bay Area artists! The 27th Annual IASD Dream Conference, which will be held from June 27-July 1, 2010, is now accepting original art work about or inspired by dreams. The juried exhibition of dream-inspired art will be on display at the Crowne Plaza Resort in Asheville, North Carolina during the middle three days of the conference, with a reception for the artists and conference attendees. Multiple media will be considered, including painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, installation art, as well as film (visual, film, etc). Connection to conference theme “Bringing Dreams and Community Together” is appropriate but not required. The deadline for entries is April 23, 2010 with $35 submission fees paid. The jury will review all entries during April and early May, and will notify entrants of the results in late May. The Dream Art Gallery of accepted submissions will be hung at the hotel, and open to the public during the conference.
Nancy Richter Brzeski Dream Art Awards
Thanks to the generous support of Nancy Richter Brzeski, several monetary prizes will be awarded for the best Dream Art. Winners will be chosen from among the artists whose work is accepted for the show, unless they specifically ask to have their names withdrawn. For consideration for these awards, in addition to the required documentation for the show, artists’ statements must include the dream or the significant part of the dream that inspired the art. The award winners will be chosen by a special panel; criteria for selection will be originality, integrity, universality, and relevance to dreaming. These awards provide $3,000 for two-dimensional, dream-based art, with a $1,000 prize for winner of First in the Show. Art show Host, artist Kim Vergil of Montreal, Canada, will announce winners at a gallery reception on Thursday evening, July 1st during the IASD conference.
For details on how to submit entries: Check the IASD website; or contact the IASD Arts Committee at art@asdreams.org, for further information. All emails must have 'IASD 2010 Art Show' in the subject line.
